Cold Harbour Barn Wedding, Naomi & Ian

Back in July I was near Wantage for a Cold Harbour Barn wedding with the lovely Naomi and Ian.  I really do love my job, as I get to meet some amazing people and also get to work at lots of fabulous venues throughout Oxfordshire and beyond.I remember first speaking on the phone with Naomi and Ian whilst sat in the John Radcliffe car park.  My daughter was very poorly and I was going to visit her.  The phone chat obviously went very well and here i am now writing a blog about their wedding.  My daughter fully recovered and is back to her young self. The day started at Naomi's parents house in one of the gorgeous little villages that surround Wantage.  It was a super relaxed morning with tons of smiles and laughter.

St Mary's Church, Childrey

The ceremony was held just down the road at St Mary's in Childrey.  A beautiful Norman church dating back to the 12th century and looking out over the Vale of white horse.Naomi and her father arrived in a stunning classic open top Mercedes, where they were greeted by the bridesmaids, flower girl, page boy and the vicar.A lovely ceremony followed. When the ceremony was complete and the confetti and groups finished, Naomi and lan jumped into a classic open top MG and lead the charge to Cold Harbour Barn for the reception.

Cold Harbour Barn

This really is a hidden gem of a wedding venue and not one i'd worked at before.  I hadn't even heard of it until Naomi and Ian told me they planning a wedding there.  Sandwiched in between Ardington House and Lains barn, it really is quite unique.I loved working with Naomi and Ian, they were so lovely and it was a fabulous day to photograph.

Here's what Naomi had to say about their wedding

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Naomi - seeing us both grinning from ear to ear the whole day! No one can describe how happy you are on your wedding day, words don't do it justice. Ian - the getting married bit (this is quoted!), however i do agree ?.

Please let me know about any personal or DIY touches you added to make the day a little more ā€˜youā€™.

We wanted to add colour, so from the paper lanterns to asking the guests to dress brightly. Then it was in the smaller details that the personal touches were added, with friends really showing their creative talents, from cake making to make up artist.

Ian has always loved croquet, so I bought him a set for his birthday, so we had to have this too, it proved great fun!

Why did you choose your venue? We wanted to be local to my parents house as this is where i grew up and have so many memories, the barn is such a secret my mum did her research and found out about it in her keep fit class one week ?. It's great still having a local community!

How did you find using Lee Dann Photography, were there any particular things about my approach that you liked, and how did you feel about the photos once you received them?

Lee was great, i reached out to my friends on Facebook and he was a recommendation from one of the girls i went to school with, so i knew he would be great. I also loved the style of photography Lee does, we weren't after posed pictures.

I think some of my friends would have preferred more flattering pictures but the moments were captured for sure.

We have some lovely photo's that capture our day brilliantly and were really pleased with what we received.

If you were doing it all again what would be the one bit of advice youā€™d give yourself at the start of the planning process?that's a hard question! hmmm....we weren't on the biggest budget so there wasn't a lot more we could have done. I was so pleased with what we achieved with so much help from family. I would maybe say give yourself more time than you need preparing beforehand, even working out how many metres of ribbon you need to tie the serviettes! If you think you have been organised just go that extra mile to save time on the setting up day.I hope you enjoy looking at the photos and if you are planning a Cold Harbour Barn wedding drop me a message, I'd love to hear from you.
