Harris Manchester College Wedding, Katie & Ash
My last job of 2016 was a fabulous Harris Manchester College Wedding in Oxford with the lovely Katie and Ash.
I have shot a fair few weddings in Oxford’s Colleges, but It was my first visit to Harris Manchester College. It is one of the smaller Colleges in Oxford. There are two Quadrants surrounded by a mixture of architectural styles. Points of interest are the Dining hall, the Clock tower, College chapel and the fabulous Tate library . The college actually started life in Manchester in 1786 and moved five times before settling in Oxford in 1893. I could go on about the history of this beautiful college but let’s get back to the wedding.
You may remember Katie & Ash from a previous post, where we met up before the wedding in Oxford city to take some engagement photos. You can see that post Here.
On the day of the wedding, a week before Christmas, the weather was foggy and cold and stayed that way all day. However this didn’t dampen their spirits.
These guys were loads of fun during the Pre-wedding shoot so I was half expecting a fun packed day.
Both Katie and Ash were getting ready in the College which is always nice. The fun had already started when I entered the room the girls were using to get ready. The place was a hive of activity.
I really enjoy this part of the day. It starts off quite laid back, then more often than not, builds as the excitement and anticipation of what’s to come grows. Katie looked stunning as she prepared to head down to the chapel.
The ceremony took place in the stunning College chapel where Katie’s father and sister provided the music.
After a few quick portraits and some group photos Katie and Ash were free to enjoy their day.
Food and the speeches were held in the Dining hall and once the fabulous acapella singers had sung their hearts out, it was off over the road to the University club to dance the night away.
It really was a great day, with decent weather for the time of year and a great group of people.
I’d like to say a big congratulations to Katie and Ash and I wish them all the best for the future…:)
Update:- There is a nice blog post on “Function Central” about the music artists featured at Katie & Ash’s wedding. You can see that post Here.
