Ardington House Wedding, Donna & Alex
I was so happy when Donna and Alex booked me to cover their Ardington House Wedding. It always amazes me how time flies, it only seems like yesterday we were sat in The Crown and Thistle discussing the beautiful wedding they were planning. I've not worked at Ardington House before so it was lovely to finally get the chance to shoot a wedding there. You may remember Donna and Alex from a previous post, where we met up before the wedding in Cullam to take their pre wedding photos.
On the day of the wedding we were absolutely blessed with the most fantastic weather, a surprise considering the weird cold conditions we had been experiencing just the month before. Coming up the drive and making my way to the field behind the house to where i was to leave the car. The view was something so pretty. As I stepped out of the car, I could see the Magnificent Ardington House to my left and to my right across a large expanse of grass, I could see the huge marquee and the island where Donna and Alex were due to get married. As I made my way to the main house to start photographing the preparations, I was feeling more than a little blessed. Not only was the sun shinning, but I was finally shooting at a venue i'd wanted to for a long time. It's strange how certain venues just seem to elude you. I have shot at pretty much all the fabulous venues in Oxfordshire, but never here. Preparations were in full swing as I arrived at the room Donna and the girls were using to get ready. I love the prep part of the day the most, the way it builds is fab to witness and photograph. The guys got ready at the couples place in Abingdon and then went on to The Boars Head in Ardington for a swift pint or two.The ceremony was held on the island, surrounded by water. Donna, her father and bridesmaids made the long walk from the house as all the guests looked on in anticipation. A two piece band played soft music as Donna walked up the aisle to meet Alex who was patiently waiting at the front. After a beautiful ceremony, Donna and Alex walked outside to be congratulated by all their guests and a confetti run. While the children played, the adults drank champaign and ate canapés. It was then time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. After some cake cutting it was time to dance the night away. I had so much fun capturing all the great moments during this wedding. It really was an amazing day. Smashing people and great weather. The perfect day.
Testimonial
Lee was a wonderful photographer and perfectly captured our wedding day. We are delighted with the finished photos and have no reservations in wholeheartedly recommending him to one and all. We picked Lee as our photographer because his style is very natural and candid. We were definitely not disappointed in that regard and countless people have commented about how good the documentary style photos look. That’s not to say that Lee’s portraits were not beautiful; rather the opposite, we are very happy with them too and they are of excellent quality! Lee was very personable, understanding, and patient (especially when it came to the dreaded group shots!) and it was a pleasure to have him there on the day. Lee’s second photographer, Henry, was also highly professional and captured some great moments. After the wedding, Lee has been very prompt and efficient in preparing our digital album and the physical, printed album and we are very grateful to him for that.We cannot speak highly enough of our experience with Lee and we hope our paths cross again in the future - thanks again for capturing (and helping to make) our special day.
