Medley Walled Garden Wedding, Yasmina & Kevin
In August I was in Oxford for the wedding of Yasmina and Kevin at the gorgeous Medley Walled Garden. A relatively new venue set in a walled garden. A mature landscaped garden with a small lake and jetty for hosting wedding ceremonies. This was my first visit to Medley, so took some time before the wedding to walk around and familiarise myself with the surroundings.
Sometimes couples don’t require full day photography coverage and i’m happy to provide a custom package that fits the clients needs. Yasmina and Kevin booked me for four hours to capture the ceremony and some candid photos of their guests.
At the start of the ceremony two guests stood and started to play small wind instruments. The flower girls and page boy lead the way through the garden followed by Yasmina and Kevin. They made their way to the jetty where the ceremony was held. such a beautiful setting to exchange rings and vows.
The marriage was sealed with a kiss and followed by rapturous applause.
I captured lots of candid photos of family and friends congratulating Yasmina and Kevin after the ceremony. This is always a great time to get natural shots of a couple interacting with their guests. To be honest as a photographer, this wedding was a dream to photograph with so much going on and so much joy and happiness.
Whilst the guests were enjoying a drink Yasmina, Kevin and I took the opportunity to go for a walk around the garden and along Port Meadow to take some natural couple photos.
Medley Walled Garden Wedding
It was soon time to sit down for the meal which was Indian inspired and was delicious. Before heading home I photographed the speeches. A wonderful mix of humour and heartfelt sentiment followed. I do love a good speech and it’s probably one of my favourite parts of a wedding to photograph.
Here's what Yasmina & Kevin had to say about their wedding
What was your favourite part of the wedding?
There was really no best part - we loved every minute of it. It was so nice to have all our families and friends from around the world meet and we were delighted to see everyone get along so well.
Please let me know about any personal or DIY touches you added to make the day a little more ‘you’.
Our wedding was fully DIY - we made the table decorations, chose all the drinks and came up with the cocktail and had our friends and family bake cakes. Oh and we made all the late night food!
Why did you choose your venue?
Our venue was centrally located in Oxford and as we had many guests coming internationally it was important to us that the venue was very accessible.
How did you find using Lee Dann Photography, were there any particular things about my approach that you liked, and how did you feel about the photos once you received them?
We love the photos! We've been looking at them non stop! Lee was great, blended in beautifully and caught natural photos of our loved ones.
If you were doing it all again what would be the one bit of advice you’d give yourself at the start of the planning process?
To plan more time for setting up the venue and to ask people for help - people were very willing to chip in!
